The Not So Grand 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Besides the Wrangler, is no other name most identified with the brand as a Cherokee Jeep, Jeep, a model that has long led in the last quarter-century. This unprecedented drop has affected the Chrysler as the company has long been dependent on trucks and SUVs for the overwhelming majority of their sales.
Despite the bad news, has big plans for Chrysler Grand Cherokee, when the 2011-model published in 2010. According to the annual reports, the Chrysler will invest 1.8 billion U.S. dollars upgrading its Jefferson North Assembly Plant(Detroit) to build the next-generation Grand Cherokee, and several new models. The side effect of this investment is that Chrysler expects the beleaguered Motor City plant will need 400 new employees.

Although Chrysler hasn''t together all the news yet regarding the proposed Grand Cherokee, they have said the following:
The Grand Cherokee is on a car-based platform, rather than a truck platform, much in the waytoday 'that are built crossover vehicles.
Lighter materials, a slightly smaller body mean that the model will see significant improvements over their current 15/19 mpg numbers. A V6 engine will power the new Grand Cherokee.
The Grand Cherokee 4×4 is still capable, but we expect that this will mean light off-road at best.

Chrysler says that the Grand Cherokee name be retained for the new model, even if purists mayargue that this is served which is something far less grand. Chrysler, like every other automobile manufacturer, is concerned with the permanence of high fuel costs and what does the consumer who will ultimately determine what you need to build every car the company.
